Temperature rises just in time for the annual Run Bournemouth event
Temperatures surge to 21 degrees on the day of the annual Run Bournemouth event.
The competition attracts thousands of competitors for a fun and friendly event ideal for all levels of running ability.
Held over two days the event offers six various race distances to run from, including the supersonic 10k, supernova 5k and the half marathon.
The half marathon begins at Hengistbury Head and travels through the roads of Boscombe before returning to the nature reserve.
Joining the promenade, runners will enter both piers before reaching the finish line on Bournemouth Pier Approach.
Individuals and many different types of charities participated in the run.
Abdullah Aid, an East London-based charity that began as a small group of friends in 2015 and is now working on multimillion-pound projects all over the world as of 2023, was among those taking part.
Noaman Talati, a volunteer at Abdullah Aid said: “We saw this as an opportunity where we can run for the people that we are fundraising for.
“We’ve travelled to these locations and seen the situation first hand and it encourages us more to support these causes.”
He added: “I found it very difficult in the heat.
“Just makes you think of the heat that they face. They have to walk kilometres just to get clean water.
“We’re running to provide clean water for these people across multiple countries.”
Runner Emily Nurden, from Kent Vegan Runners, said: “I enjoy running, keeping fit and I enjoy the challenge of it.
“For this, I trained for it so I normally run 5 to 6 days a week.”
She added: “Everyone supports a vegan lifestyle in the club.
“There’s people that are spectating that are vegans so you get a nice go vegan cheer.
“And that helps keep you going.”
